Drawing and painting can be a good way to express how we’re feeling.
Sometimes it’s easier to show in pictures than describe in words.
What feelings do you think the pictures below might show? How can you tell?
Blue Smile supports children struggling with difficult feelings and experiences. We’d love to see your pictures showing what different feelings look like to you. By taking part, you’ll be helping raise awareness and funds to support children’s mental health.
How to get involved
- Draw, paint or make your picture showing an emotion or feeling. You can use any materials you like – paint, pens, collage etc. It should be A4 size or bigger.
- Share the picture by 8th Sept 2024– ask a parent/adult to email a good quality scan or photograph to fundraising@bluesmile.org.uk or post it to us at the address below.
- With the picture(s), please send: your name, age, and an email address for a parent or responsible adult (e.g. group leader), which we will use to confirm we’ve received your picture, send a thank you and information about when and where you can see your picture shared.
Our address:
Blue Smile, 47-51 Norfolk Street, Cambridge, CB1 2LD
Our tips
Use some bright, bold colours that really make your picture stand out!
Try a few pictures of different emotions- these could be any emotions, like happy, excited, sad, confused, angry, relaxed, confident, calm, or lonely.
Have fun and enjoy yourself!
Important information. If you share your picture with Blue Smile, we will use it in publicity materials to help raise awareness of children’s mental health and encourage people to support our work. This could include in printed materials, our website or social media – including around World Mental Health Day on 10 October. We might share your first name and age with the picture, but not your surname or other personal details. For example, we might say: “This picture was drawn by Sam, age 11, who took part in a Blue Smile art project for Cambridgeshire children”. We may edit the picture slightly e.g. by cropping it to fit available space.
